Our Story
We are Kenzie and Alex Weis. We own Rooted Flower Co. and are excited you are here!
About three years ago, I (Kenzie) had this wild tug and almost “aha” moment that one day we would be flower farmers. I really had no idea what that would look like, but I know when something comes to me like that, I don’t ignore it. I continued to keep it tucked in my head and heart, staying curious about this vision. I didn’t even say it out loud for the longest time to anyone because it was so special to me.
There were countless moments of affirmation that this was going to happen and after sharing it with Alex, it was full-steam ahead!
In 2022 we grew oodles of cut flowers in the backyard of our home in town. It was amazing and so fun! However, we knew all along we were meant to live and thrive in the country. We just were waiting for our time.
Later that year the opportunity came to purchase land and it all fell into place in a way that is only described as “meant to be”. We KNEW this was our next step in pursuing our flower dreams!

Kenzie’s Roots
I grew up spending hours outside on my parents’ hobby farm. I could be found planting flowers, trees and gardens. You could also find me watching kittens being born, tending to our chickens and frolicking in the fields surrounding my parents’ acreage. I LOVED living in the country and tending to all that it had to offer.
I learned countless lessons from my Dad ranging from growing a grove, working machinery at a young age to raising animals from birth to death. I also learned many valuable skills like canning and processing food from the garden to our plates. I am eternally grateful for these experiences as they laid the foundation of who I am today.
I learned from a young age the value of hard work, dedication and giving the best care to plants and animals.
I ended up going to college with a degree in Life Science Education, becoming a Science teacher. I love helping people understand the world around them!
Being in the garden with dirt on my hands and the sun on my skin brings me such joy! I cannot wait to take you on this journey!
Alex’s Roots
Alex is one of a kind. He is hard-working, funny and kind. You will find him doing a lot of “behind the scenes” work. His niches are the things people forget about (like ground-keeping, tilling, plot planning etc) but are so important.
Growing up, he was always helping on family and friends’ farms, and was heavily involved in sports. He learned hard work and determination quickly. Eventually he found a knack for landscaping, which he did as one of his jobs through college.
Alex loves working outside and doing all sorts of projects. He’s your right hand man and will always make sure the job is done well. If he doesn’t know how to do it, he will learn!
I (Kenzie) am so grateful to have a partner in him. He is reliable, always believing in what we are aiming to do and such a hard worker. We wouldn’t be where we are with our business if it weren’t for him!
Fun facts: Alex is also a teacher AND he is fluent in American Sign Language. We will be a Deaf friendly business and look forward to utilizing it to serve our customers!
Although you may not see a ton of Alex on the front end, he is an absolute integral part!
Why Rooted Flower Co.?
I have always been amazed by trees and plants in general. Have you ever examined them in detail? I spent a lot of time with plants growing up ranging from flowers to vegetables to the food we fed our animals and the trees I would look at while laying in the cool grass on a summer evening.
What is one of the secrets of a healthy and flourishing plant? The root system. Strong, sturdy and ready to take in nutrients. Ready to weather any condition or environment.
If you look at a tree upside down it looks like a human’s lungs. How FASCINATING! Plants literally give us life with their oxygen.
